Water is essential for life, and it's important that we drink enough of it every day. But did you know that water is especially important for athletes? When you exercise, your body sweats, which means you lose fluids. If you don't replace those fluids, you can become dehydrated, which can lead to fatigue, muscle cramps, and even heat exhaustion.
That's why it's important to drink water at regular intervals throughout the day, especially when you're exercising. The American Council on Exercise recommends drinking 17-20 ounces of water two to three hours before exercising, and then another 7-10 ounces every 10-20 minutes during exercise. After you're done working out, drink another 8 ounces within 30 minutes.
Drinking enough water can also help keep your body functioning properly, including maintaining healthy kidneys, regulating body temperature, and helping with digestion.
So make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially if you're an athlete or exercise regularly. Your body will thank you for it!
